Revelations that the Mount Wellington Cableway Company (MWCC) received official Government advice insisting it conduct a ‘comprehensive’ Aboriginal heritage survey on kunanyi/Mt Wellington, and that it has since received ‘new advice’ (both being kept secret), has prompted fresh calls for much promised transparency about the cable car project.

In May, Residents Opposed to the Cable Car (ROCC) made an extensive submission to the consultation process over the Gutwein Government’s Major Project Bill, calling on the bill to be with drawn.
In 2020 Submissions were invited to be made into the EPBC review process. Residents Opposed To The Cable Car’s submission is included below and lists numerous matters of National Environmental Significance that would be impacted by the MWCC’s proposed development.
